New Year's Eve - Rewind, Skipper's Smokehouse 12/31/2008

Tracy and I spent NYE at Skipper's Smokehouse with Jan, Liz, Scott, and Dave. wmnf 88.5 assembled a fun cast of 11 bands playing songs from 1968 (well, there was that one Prince song thrown in there - but who cares, right? It's a party).
I convinced Tracy we HAD to kinda dress the part and she HAD to have braids in her hair. Friends gave me the cute hat for Christmas and I thought it was purrfekt for the party.
The night seemed to get a slow start but this guy was out front and center dancing in his bare feet from the first song. He left the floor only when there wasn't a band on stage. His boots were over by the wall. Shoulda got a pic of the boots.

Action shot. The guy over my shoulder is bare-foot-dancin' guy.
Liz, Jan, and Shelley
Tracy, cute as ever.
Tracy, Shelley, and Liz. Scott is there someplace.... So is Dave, Liz and Scott's neighbor. Check for next week on the blog. We are all attending a show next Friday.
Party goers.
OK shot of Shelley. Where's a damn photographer when I need one?
Shelley's lame shot of the two photographers shooting.
This is John the photographer. He should have an impressive gallery of photos. I see him at many Skipper's shows.
Tracy May the photographer...the smart one with ear plugs. He says he'll send me the link soon with full photos from every band. This link might get ya there.
Not sure what this is all about.
Next show.... Pinetop Perkins. 95 years old...yes, 95... not a typo.
From his site:
Pinetop Perkins is one of the last great Mississippi bluesmen still performing. He began playing blues around 1927 and is widely regarded as one of the best blues pianists. He’s created a style of playing that has influenced three generations of piano players and will continue to be the yardstick by which great blues pianists are measured.
